Raiser's Edge Ideas has moved!

Event Module Participant

When opening each participant to review their guests and make sure that they are seated accoring to what they paid for..after opening up one registrant and closing, the system brings you back to the top of the list. You have to continue to scroll down to get to the next person you are reviewing. Wish the curser would just stay where you have left off so that no one is missed during the review process.

This has finally, finally, finally been fixed. Hallelujah!

Reading some of the fine/hidden print for 7.94 it looks like this may have been solved. Reading the very bottom of the page at https://www.blackbaud.com/fundraising-and-relationship-management/raisers-edge/new-releases/7.94 I see this:

"We’ve added event participation summary information in query and in export, added export summary receipt amounts of gifts, addressed losing placement in Event participants list after opening a record, and confirmed compatibilities with SQL Server 2014 (32bit & 64bit and SQL Server 2014 Express)!"

        Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong?? I don't have 7.94 yet, so I can't confirm.

I totally agree. This is not an idea to improve functionality. This is simply a bug which makes the event very hard to work with if your event has more than 50 participants. Please fix it!

I realize this only has 745 votes, but it needs to be FIXED now. We use events on a daily basis and this really really really irritates our staff.

I haven't used the event module in about 3 years and I'm having to get reacquainted with it now. I remember how maddening this was for our event with over 1,600 registrants. It appears that when you are in the Participants tab, it does save your place and keep you at the last record accessed, but in the seating section, which is where most of your time is spent, it does not. It seems like this would be an easy fix (if it can be done in one section, why not in another?) so why wouldn't you just have a programmer do it and be done with it?

My organization has over 1,000 guests at its annual gala and this makes seating review an absolute pain.....I spend more time scrolling through records than I do seating them. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Please fix this RE! With large scale events this problem is enough to make someone resort to the use of spreadsheets and avoid using the event record all together.

This would be a GREAT improvement for the Event Module.... Please look into this RE.

I don't think things so small will get ever fixed. They can't even get the big ones right. I had buckets of cases reporting bugs and the only outcome of these was to post them here as "ideas"... a lot of what's here are not ideas - they are bugs and should be fixed.

When will this ever get fixed?! It's stupid little things like this that make your products so frustrating to use. They could be amazing if you just had some staff dedicated to making these type of simple programming changes. I for one would recommend your company and software often if only you were responsive to you customers-instead it takes more than a year for simple things to be addressed.

This would be so simple for a programmer to fix...yet it hasn't been addressed since posting a year and a half ago...simple changes like this that should not even be required in the first place would make a world of difference to your users.

This would be a blessing and a big time saver.

        Excellent suggestion!!!!!!!!!!

        100 percent agree.
during clean up and review process this is troublesome for me.
I sort and filter all sorts of ways but it always brings me to the top.

Agreed - Carina, while this is a valid problem that needs to be solved - it should not be an issue when marking constituents as attended since that can be done in other ways than opening and closing each record. Under tools you can use the "update participants" tool which has been around for many, many years. But there is also a mark attended option on the newest version of RE which is even easier. You may want to go to knowledgebase and look this up and see which way seems to suit you best.

      • Tomasz MalkiewiczTomasz Malkiewicz commented  ·

Carina, which version of RE are you using? There is an option to bulk mark participants as attended or unattended for some time now. Cant remeber now which version or patch introduced it.
